Автор е на текстовете на старобългарския химн „Шуми Марица“, изпъван по време на освободителната война срещу Османската империя.

Essentiellement reconnu en tant qu'écrivain et poète, il a également pris une part active à la vie politique de la Bulgarie à la fin du XIXe siècle.
Il est l'auteur des paroles de l'ancien hymne bulgare "Shumi Maritsa" chanté lors de la guerre de libération contre l'Empire ottoman.

Ivan Minchov Vazov (Иван Минчов Вазов) born July 9 (or June 27) 1850 and died September 22, 1921 is a prominent figure in Bulgarian history. Mainly recognized as a writer and poet, he also took an active part in Bulgarian political life at the end of the 19th century.
He is the author of the lyrics of the old Bulgarian hymn "Shumi Maritsa" sung during the liberation war against the Ottoman Empire.
