« Touch it if you dare » is the motto of Gaston "Fébus" Count of Foix and Bearn, territories located in the south west of France. A man with an iron and fire temperament (as evidenced by his nickname "flamboyant"), a fine politician, an absolutist, he knew how to preserve his independent territories in the middle of the Hundred Years' War, torn between the king of France and England. Béarn was indeed sovereign until the accession of Henri IV to the throne of France. He was an accomplished warrior, taking part in a crusade in Prussia, within the order of the Teutonic Knights, a man of letters, he wrote a famous "hunting treaty".
