May 19, 1978: The Legion jumps on Kolwezi

In 1978 the Katangese rebels, pushed by the Communists of Cuba, attacked the Zairian mining town (now located in the Congo) of Kolwezi populated by thousands of white engineers and workers, living in harmony with the native black people, too happy to find western living conditions. Very quickly the most atrocious massacres begin. First on the blacks and then on the whites. Women and children are not spared, but mutilated and finished off in the most horrible conditions. The decision is therefore taken by France to launch a military operation, that is to say to send a regiment of Foreign-Legion paratroopers.
This book tells their story and their victory, one of the last obtained by a European country, which used legitimate force without the approval of Washington or Moscow.
