30 avril 1863 : mort au feu du capitaine Jean Danjou à Camerone.
Suite à une première démonstration de force des Mexicains – 600 cavaliers et 1400 fantassins -, le colonel Milan, qui les commande, offre la reddition à la Légion étrangère. Le Capitaine Danjou refuse catégoriquement. Les hommes de Cambas mettent alors le feu à l’hacienda et tentent d’entrer par l’étage. C’est au cours de cette attaque que le capitaine Danjou est mortellement atteint à la poitrine.

Following an initial show of force by the Mexicans - 600 cavalrymen and 1400 infantrymen - Colonel Milan, who commanded them, offered the Foreign Legion surrender. Captain Danjou refuses categorically. The men of Cambas then set fire to the hacienda and try to enter by the floor. It is during this attack that Captain Danjou is mortally hit in the chest.
