September 19, 1899: Dreyfus pardoned but Dreyfus condemned!

On January 5, 1895, Captain Alfred Dreyfus was solemnly degraded in the courtyard of the École Militaire (hight military school) in Paris. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for high treason. But on September 19, 1899 he received a presidential pardon from Émile Loubet.

Contrary to a deep-rooted historical lie, Alfred Dreyfus has never, and for good reason, been found innocent by a Tribunal or a Court.

After the annulment, for breach of procedure and because of the suspected existence of a forgery in the prosecution of the judicial decision which had condemned him, he received a presidential pardon and was then reinstated in its rights and functions.
