The Australian dollar has been trading lower against the Canadian dollar since the start of this year. This is mainly due to the more hawkish Bank of Canada having carried out quantitative easing twice as compared to the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) which is planning to carry out a tapering only in early September.
