After two months of total sabotage of the Contact Group meetings on political issues, Ukraine tried a new approach by proposing on 18 May 2021 to exclude the DPR and LPR (Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics) delegations from the negotiations within the Minsk platform, or even to include them in the Russian delegation, before retracting the next day in view of the unexpected consequences this proposal could have.
