Remembering Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his birth anniversary.
He served as first Minister of Education of independent India.
His birthday is being celebrated as "National Education Day" since 2008.
Maulana Azad was also played a major role in the establishment of the University Grants Commission (UGC), which is the regulatory body for all higher education institutes in India. He was also responsible for establishing the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the country.
