Nelson Mandela, right?
He was elected
president of South Africa in 1994 after having spent
27 years in prison.
He passed away in 2013 due to a respiratory infection.
But something weird happened…
After his death, some people started thinking
"wasn’t he ALREADY dead?" Turns out that a lot of people thought Mandela died years ago in prison. And when I say a lot, it’s A LOT!
It was a sort of collective hallucination where a large group of people shared false memories.
This effect was popularized after Mandela’s death, and it was named after him:
the Mandela effect!
